Prime-Tass, Dow Jones announce partnership deal

MOSCOW/LONDON, June 4 /Prime-TASS/ -- Leading Russian business news agency Prime-Tass and Dow Jones Newswires, the world's leading provider of real-time business and financial news, have announced a content exchange and sales partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will distribute, market and sell the other's products in their respective markets.

From Wednesday, Dow Jones Newswires will be a sales and distribution agent for Prime-Tass products in North America, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In return, Prime-Tass will market selected Dow Jones Newswires products to financial professionals and Web site owners in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The agreement will also strengthen the product offerings of both news agencies. Dow Jones Newswires will take news content from the Prime-Tass English Wire and the Prime-Tass Russian Wire to enhance its existing coverage of Russian business and financial markets. Correspondingly, Prime-Tass will bolster its domestic news services with international business news drawn from Dow Jones Newswires.

"The main aim of our agency," says Prime-Tass chief executive Oleg Ananyev, "is to assist in the economic development of Russia, in its integration into the global economy. Partnership with one of the most established global agencies will help us to realize this goal."

"The agreement with Dow Jones Newswires will allow us to expand our coverage of economic and political events abroad and to offer Russian clients quality news about major overseas companies and markets. We also hope that the agreement with Dow Jones Newswires will give us the chance to meet, together with our new partner, the growing foreign demand for high quality economic news from Russia," added Mikhail Gulyaev, managing editor of Prime-Tass' English-language service.

Mike Bergmeijer, vice president of international sales and marketing for Dow Jones Newswires, said: "We're delighted to be working with Prime-Tass in one of the world's most promising and high-growth regions. We're confident that this relationship will help build our business in Russia and establish Dow Jones Newswires as an essential tool for all Russian financial professionals and private investors."

Gabriella Stern, senior editor of Dow Jones Newswires in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, added: "This exciting partnership will complement our existing coverage from Russia and offer financial professionals in both regions enhanced real-time news in our key markets."
